Willcox History

Willcox Arizona began as a tent city for Chinese laborers that would build a part of the Southwest Railroad. The town of Willcox was originally named Maley after Robert and James Maley, who owned the land that would become Willcox. Legend has it that the city of Willcox was named after a famed general Gen. Orlando B. Willcox arrived on the first train to Willcox.

Some fast facts:

Warren Earp, the youngest of the famous Earp brothers, was killed in Willcox and is the only Earp brother buried in Arizona (at the Willcox cemetery).

Country Music Star, Tonya Tucker grew up in Willcox.

Country musician and actor, Rex Allen was born in Willcox.
